Construction - Tucker Unit - Tucker The mission of the Department of Corrections is to be a public safety resource for Arkansas families by providing professional management solutions and evidence-based rehabilitative initiatives for offenders.
All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing.
Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card.
Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law.

00SummaryThe Arkansas Department of Correction (ADC) Construction Project Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating construction and maintenance projects.
This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
FunctionsSupervises a medium to large size skilled craft and protective service staff by interviewing applicants, recommending hire, approving leave, making work assignments, evaluating work performance of incumbents, and training employees.
Directs construction and maintenance activities for the agency and ensures compliance with existing state laws, regulations, and guidelines.
Meets with architect/engineer, interprets blueprints and specifications, coordinates equipment and manpower, and determines material needed.
Monitors construction site progress and ensures that schedule is maintained.
Assists staff performing security functions, including conducting inmate count, writing disciplinarians, and participating in the apprehension of escapees.
Prepares and presents construction reports.
Prepares purchase order requests and obtains bid quotes.
Maintains inventory of building materials, equipment, and tools.
Interviews inmates to determine if they meet the criteria and have aptitude for construction work.
Attends various conferences and meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
DimensionsThis position has regular contact with inmates.
Occasional overtime and twenty four hour on call duty is required.
Occasional in state travel is required.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
Knowledge of institutional rules and regulations.
Knowledge of construction and maintenance procedures and state and federal building codes.
Ability to train and oversee the work of free world and inmate workers.
Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of free-world employees and inmates.
Ability to evaluate needs, estimate cost, prepare bid specifications, and obtain bids.
Ability to maintain inventory and requisition supplies.
Ability to interpret blueprints and building specifications and coordinate construction projects.
Ability to compile data and prepare reports.
Minimum QualificationsThe formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus, seven years of experience in construction work, including two years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
